Before looking at our next concert on Sunday November 17th, are you aware of the advantages of becoming a member of NADSA?  As a member, not only will you be supporting the performance of live classical music in Newton Abbot, but you'll be able to do it at a beneficial price.  Members can buy tickets for any concert at the lower price of £18, a saving of £3 on each, or you may buy a season's subscription ticket covering all seven concerts for £90.  OK, so a subscription ticket isn't cost-effective at this point in the year, but it's worth bearing in mind for next year: don't worry, you'll be reminded again in plenty of time!  Membership costs £20 for a single person or £30 for a couple; corporate membership is also available at a cost of £50.  Remember that as a member you can still save £15 each in the remainder of the year just on ticket price alone.

You may have already noticed that we're a pretty friendly bunch, and as a member you'd be helping to bring a high standard of musical performance to South Devon: if this has caught your interest have a word with our Membership Secretary Ineke Henderson-Leer, http://ineke@nadsa.co.uk and she'll be delighted to tell you more.

Now onto our next concert at the Courtenay Centre on 17th at 3.30pm - note that, we now start half an hour later than in previous years.

The Treske String Quartet has it's roots in a 2017 chamber music course in North Yorkshire, and is committed to championing the works of 20th & 21st century composers.  The members Oliver Baily, Mollie Wrafter, Abigail Hammett and Robert Wheatley, all studied at the Royal Northern College of Music, and collectively bring a wealth of experience as soloists, orchestral and chamber musicians.  Prizewinners at the Cavatina Competition at the Wigmore Hall last year, they have recently been named Young Quartet in Residence at the Royal Irish Academy of Music in Dublin

Appearing as freelance individuals they regularly play with professional ensembles and orchestras across the British Isles.

Their programme for us will include

So - if the mention of 20th & 21st century works has put you off, you may relax and rest assured there's nothing too way-out here!  To learn more about the Treske Quartet visit Home

As an aside, from a woodworker's perspective it's amazing that we'll be hearing a performance played on a set of modern instruments, all made from the same tree by the W.E. Hill & Sons workshop. W. E. Hill & Sons

Now it's time to book your ticket if you've not already done so, at Treske String Quartet | nadsa Concerts  This promises to be another exciting afternoon combining lyrical melodies with a modern interpretation of the baroque, while also introducing innovative string techniques.

We are grateful to Austin's department Store, probably South Devon's favourite, for sponsoring this concert.
