nadsa concerts Newsletter – March 2026

Kosmos ensemble are a group of three musicians who delight in their unique blend of music drawn from different cultures and genres. With Harriet Mackenzie’s violin, Meg Hamilton playing the viola and Miloš Milivojevic on accordion you can appreciate that this will be a lively evening.

Harriet is an international soloist and chamber musician who has recorded concertos with the BBC National Orchestra of Wales, Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, the English Symphony Orchestra and Orchestra Nova: “Superbly responsive playing from Harriet Mackenzie…faultless technique and unfailing insight” – Gramophone Magazine

Viola player Meg-Rosaleen Hamilton specialises in world and folk music styles including Celtic, Romanian, Greek and Middle-Eastern music: “Meg Hamilton explored the highest range of sounds…the sound was beautiful and truly evocative…charming and vivacious” – Chichester Observer

Classical accordionist Miloš Milivojevic from Serbia was awarded a full scholarship at the Royal Academy of Music; winner of many international competitions and the prestigious Derek Butler London Prize at the Wigmore Hall, he has recently released his debut solo album on the Nimbus Label. “a hurricane of imaginative invention” – The Times

As a group, Kosmos has performed internationally to great acclaim including tours of Poland, Italy, Spain, Greece, Sweden, and the Channel islands, with live performances on BBC Radio 3 and Classic FM. In 2018, the acclaimed composer Errollyn Wallen wrote a Triple concerto for Kosmos which was premiered at the Jersey International Liberation Festival’s Royal Opera House with the Jersey Chamber Orchestra and Eamonn Dougan conducting. Other performances of this successful new work have included the headlining concert of the Festival of Chichester in Chichester Cathedral with Worthing Symphony Orchestra and John Gibbons conducting and Northampton Symphony Orchestra also with John Gibbons conducting. Kosmos recently released their third album on the Nimbus Label to critical acclaim. Read more about them at Home | kosmos

There is no formal programme for the evening, but Harriet, Meg and Milos have crafted for us a programme unique to Kosmos, which they’ll introduce from the stage, inspired by music from all around the globe. Expect to hear wild Gypsy fiddling, and emotive Jewish and Greek music gliding seamlessly into hot-blooded tango, alongside interpretations of Japanese, Polish and Swedish songs, and Scottish reels. We look forward to hearing new arrangements by and for the ensemble too, with references to classical composers including Bach, Satie, Piazzolla, Ligeti, Brahms and Sarasate.

Book your tickets now; this is going to be a popular evening – forget musical boundaries and fixed genres, it’s time to be flexible! Go along to Kosmos: A Musical Journey Beyond Boundaries – nadsa concerts and sign up while tickets are still available. And bring some of the folding stuff for the CD that you’ll regret not having bought…

This concert is sponsored by members Sue and Jeff Collman, to whom we are most grateful
for their support.

Speaking of which, have you ever considered sponsoring a concert, either as an individual, a family, or as a business? It’s a memorable way to celebrate one of those major life events – an important birthday or anniversary perhaps – and sharing the joy of the occasion with others if the idea of a big party doesn’t appeal. You can have front row seats reserved, and meet the performers afterwards too.

For businesses, it can be a good opportunity to reach out to a large number of people to tell them what you can offer, through the beneficial advertising that goes with sponsorship. 2000 brochures will carry your advertisement for the whole season, and you’ll be acknowledged in posters, media previews, the post-concert review, and individual concert programmes. Your publicity can be displayed in the entrance foyer, and you’ll have complimentary tickets for yourself and your guests – family, friends, or maybe important customers.

Business sponsorship starts at £750; individuals start at £500. There’s no rush: next season, all except November are already covered, (three by individuals like yourselves), so think about it for the 2027-28 season. You too can help bring high-quality art to Newton Abbot. To find out more, contact our secretary, Sue Collman on 01626 368318, or susancollman21@gmail.com
