Daniele Rinaldo – A Remarkable Pianist
Hello, and welcome to the monthly newsletter.
In October we welcome back the Italian pianist Daniele Rinaldo. He returns to the Courtenay Centre at 3:30 pm on Sunday 25th October with a programme of remarkable range. His previous concert for us (October 2022) was a glorious success: an eclectic mix – he breathed life into his repertoire, leaving the audience spellbound.

Daniele Rinaldo has performed in major venues across the world while also pursuing a parallel academic career in economics at the University of Exeter. As a soloist, he has appeared in New York, at Wigmore Hall and Barbican in London, Tonhalle in Zurich, Verbier Festival, Konzerthaus in Berlin and in the main halls of Paris, Basel, Tokyo, Geneva and Rome, as well as touring extensively throughout Europe, Japan, China and South America.
He received his musical education at the Royal Academy of Music in London, at the Accademia Nazionale Santa Cecilia in Rome, at the Musik-Akademie in Basel where he obtained the Soloist Diploma, and earlier at the Padua and the New England Conservatories. A pivotal figure in his artistic development through the last years has been Maria João Pires, who mentors him still today and with whom he frequently shares the concert stage.
A Piano Journey from Stillness to Grandeur
Opening the concert with the hushed stillness of Arvo Pärt, Daniele Rinaldo closes the afternoon with Schubert’s Sonata in A Major, D 959, one of the four visionary masterpieces finished in 1828 which were to be among the very last things he wrote.
Here is the full programme:
- Arvo Pärt – Für Alina (1976)
- Maurice Ravel – Miroirs (1904–05)
- Frédéric Chopin – Barcarolle in F sharp major, Op. 60
- Interval
- Peter Nickol – Blue Mix (2002)
- Franz Schubert – Sonata in A major, D 959
Daniele’s concert is sponsored by Newton Abbot’s very own department store, Austins, to whom we are most grateful.
We look forward to seeing you on Sunday 25th October.
